I just made that up

This is a catch all for games like trivia games as well as word games, where a knowledge of something outside the game world greatly changes the play. This has some overlap with party games, with things like 20 Questions easily straddling both. This is something where schooling or real world knowledge directly impacts the final winner.

While I love Words With Friends (It’s Scrabble), if you want to win, play it as a wargame.  You are positioning your dudes on the map to capture objectives. The objectives are point multipliers, and the dudes are words and letters.  Yes, you know more words and think in anagrams, you play better. But it’s about position. Really.

I find Trivia games a bit…. Intolerable.  I graduated school so I don’t have to know this stuff.

TLDR: Trivia, words and stuff that feels like school.
